Details: Kubilius explained that the ReArm Europe initiative consists of two main components: €650 billion allocated for increased defense spending by member states, and €150 billion designated for loans for defense procurement.
"The loans under the €150 billion instrument can only be accessed by member states, but they can use these funds for joint purchases with Ukraine, particularly for items from the Ukrainian defense industry to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine", – he added.
The Commissioner emphasized that the Ukrainian industry is, for the first time, receiving equal treatment alongside the European defense industry.
"And from the €650 billion designated for national defense expenditures, part of it may also be spent on armaments for Ukraine. This will be a decision made by the member states", – noted Kubilius.
