A successful surgery for a child from Ivano-Frankivsk, born with a cleft lip and palate, was conducted with the participation of doctors from various countries. This was reported by the Center for Pediatric Medicine.

“The child from Ivano-Frankivsk was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. At four months old, they underwent their first surgery—a simultaneous cheiloplasty performed together with Professor Dr. Hakan Ağır. The results are already impressive, and there are more treatment stages ahead,” the statement says.

This clinical case received an award for the best clinical case in the world at the 10th International Orthodontic Congress in Rio de Janeiro.

“This is a complex pathology that requires a team approach. The family consulted us during pregnancy, and preparations for surgery began immediately after the child's birth,” said pediatric and plastic surgeon Orest Leshnevsky.

3D scanning was carried out in Ivano-Frankivsk, and individual NAM plates were produced in Turkey to prepare for the surgery. For three months, the parents meticulously cared for the plates, attended check-ups, and supported each preparation stage.

“To deliver the plates to Ukraine, our doctors organized a complex international logistics operation—a true ‘medical special operation’,” the Center for Pediatric Medicine added.

This story vividly demonstrates that modern treatment of complex congenital pathologies is possible only through a multidisciplinary approach, international cooperation, and immense human warmth.
