Currently, the increase in COVID-19 cases aligns with seasonal trends, and there is no sign of an epidemic threat.
This was stated by Health Minister Viktor Lyashko during a televised address.
"We are seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases, but we do not detect any epidemic or pandemic potential in the strains currently circulating. The increase resembles last year's patterns, yet we are approaching the epidemic season," the minister remarked.
He emphasized that acute respiratory viral infections, including coronavirus, can become severe if individuals resort to self-treatment or belong to at-risk groups. At-risk individuals include the elderly and those with chronic illnesses. Lyashko also noted that there are currently enough hospital beds available, and there is no overload in infectious disease departments. Furthermore, he added that there are no plans to implement quarantine restrictions at this time, though readiness for such measures should be maintained during the epidemic season.
