The head of a dining facility in a military unit in the Kyiv region has been uncovered for organizing systematic theft of food products intended for military personnel. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.
The investigation revealed that the woman involved a dining instructor and a driver in her criminal activities. Under her instructions, they did not use a portion of the food during meal preparation but instead hoarded it for resale. The stolen goods were transported in a service vehicle to places of sale.
To maintain unrestricted access to the storerooms and conceal shortages, the head of the dining facility also hired her own daughter, born in 2005. The girl provided false information in accounting documents and helped hide the thefts.
The illegal scheme had been in operation at least since January of this year. Currently, documented evidence shows the theft of food products worth over 3 million UAH.
Due to the embezzlement of food supplies, the quality of meals in the military unit deteriorated, negatively impacting the morale of the personnel. Numerous complaints were received from the soldiers.
During a search, law enforcement seized over 600 kg of meat, 80 kg of fish, 60 kg of sausage, 110 kg of cheese, 12 kg of butter, and other products worth approximately 160 thousand UAH.
The head of the dining facility, the instructor, and the driver were arrested on site.
All three have been charged under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - theft of military property committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy during a state of war.
The court has chosen a preventive measure of detention with the possibility of posting bail of nearly 1 million UAH each.
The defendants face a prison sentence of 10 to 15 years.
The State Bureau of Investigations is checking for potential involvement of other officials in the military unit, including its commander. Additional episodes of the crime are also being investigated.
