The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested another agent working for Russia who was gathering intelligence on the Ukrainian combat aviation in the western part of the country.
According to the investigation, a 20-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi, looking for «easy money» through Telegram, caught the attention of Russian operatives.
The main task of the suspect was to monitor the locations, numbers, and flight schedules of Ukrainian aircraft.
To achieve this, the agent set up hidden cameras near air bases that streamed live data.
This way, the invaders hoped to capture real-time information about the presence and types of aircraft at domestic airfields.
SBU operatives caught the agent «red-handed» while he was installing surveillance equipment near a military site.
During the searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his espionage activities was seized.
The Security Service has informed him of the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason in conditions of martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were conducted under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
