The deputy director of the communal enterprise Kyivmedspetstrans in Kyiv has been accused of embezzling nearly 2 million UAH. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
"Under the supervision of the Shevchenkivska District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, a deputy director of the communal enterprise Kyivmedspetstrans has been informed of the suspicion of unlawfully obtaining funds allocated for the purchase of spare parts for ambulances," the statement says.
It is suspected that during the tender involving controlled firms, officials from Kyivmedspetstrans ensured the victory of a favored supplier, signing a contract worth 5.4 million UAH. Subsequently, the winner supplied spare parts at inflated prices.
Expert evaluations determined that the price inflation amounted to over 1.9 million UAH. Consequently, the deputy director who signed the contracts has been charged under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for embezzlement of budget funds in conspiracy with a group of individuals.
Earlier, similar accusations were presented to the head of the material and technical supply service of Kyivmedspetstrans, who organized the procurement.
The penalties for these articles include up to 12 years in prison and a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years, along with the confiscation of property. Currently, a pre-trial investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the scheme.
