The Security Service of Ukraine has arrested another member of the FSB's agent network, which was uncovered in the spring of this year. This perpetrator was separately coordinating missile and drone strikes by Russian forces on the capital of Ukraine.
In May, the first member of the hostile cell was detained for tracking the positions of the Defense Forces for Russian shelling. According to SBU materials, he received a 15-year prison sentence with asset confiscation.
Currently, the second member of the group has been detained. He is a 49-year-old employee of a local service station, recruited by the FSB. He came under the radar while searching for «easy money» in Telegram channels.
Following instructions from the Russian special services, the detainee collected information about the technical condition of energy facilities in the Kyiv region and sent this data to his handler along with the coordinates.
Among the primary «targets» he was looking for were substations supplying electricity to a large part of Kyiv.
The agent also tracked backup bases of Ukrainian defenders within the city and its outskirts.
SBU employees documented the crimes of the detainee and arrested him. A phone with evidence of his work for Russia was confiscated.
Investigators from the Security Service informed the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The perpetrator is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU employees in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
