A woman faces up to eight years in prison for attempting to help a man avoid military service in exchange for $18,000. She planned to arrange treatment that would produce false medical documentation indicating illness.
Kyiv police investigators, alongside officers from the National Police's Internal Security Department, apprehended a 31-year-old Kyiv resident trying to exploit a mobilized soldier.
In exchange for the $18,000, the suspect promised to ensure the necessary paperwork for declaring the man unfit for service. Her scheme involved sending the client for treatment at a military medical facility, followed by a civilian hospital where illnesses would be identified to facilitate his discharge from service.
The woman demanded swift payment, asserting that the matter was urgent and required immediate attention.
She was arrested while receiving the money. Investigators announced charges against her under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For abuse of influence, she faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
The Desnyansky District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv is overseeing the legal proceedings.
