In Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, a 52-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for committing sexual acts against the 6-year-old daughter of a family friend. The sentence was enforced by juvenile prosecutors from the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
The prosecution was led by the head of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, highlighting the serious nature of the crimes involving a minor under the age of 14 (Part 4, Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The mother, along with her two young daughters, had spent the night at a friend’s dormitory. The man was sleeping on a chair while the woman and children were on the bed. In the morning, the girl awoke next to the man, and it was discovered that during the night, he had touched her inappropriately. Both the accused and the mother had consumed alcohol that evening, leaving her puzzled about how the child ended up in the same room.
Due to her young age, the girl did not fully understand what had occurred, yet she expressed pain to her grandmother, who then reported the incident to the authorities.
In court, the man denied his guilt.
After the verdict, the judges modified the preventive measure and detained him in the courtroom.
Once the verdict becomes final, the man’s information will be added to the Unified Register of Individuals Convicted for Crimes Against the Sexual Freedom and Inviolability of Minors.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the detectives of the Holosiivskyi Department of the National Police in Kyiv.
