The incident occurred at a transport company parking lot in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. Around 6 AM, one of the drivers threw a combat grenade «F-1» towards another minibus that was just setting off on its route. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The offender could face up to seven years in prison.
The director of the passenger transport company reported the incident to the emergency line «102». He stated that one of the employees threw an explosive device at the minibus that was departing, resulting in an explosion.
Investigators, bomb squad members, and canine units arrived at the scene. Authorities apprehended the perpetrator and seized fragments of the «F-1» grenade.
The culprit turned out to be a 59-year-old local resident with a criminal record. He was temporarily living in Kyiv and worked as a driver for a private transport company. He explained his actions as an attempt to intimidate a colleague with whom he had a long-standing conflict.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion, but the minibus sustained mechanical damage.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Darnytskyi District Prosecutor's Office, charged the suspect under part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism using a device specifically designed to cause bodily harm, and part 1 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal handling of military ammunition.
The pre-trial investigation is complete, and the indictment has been sent to court. The penalties for these charges may result in up to seven years of imprisonment.
