The Security Service of Ukraine successfully prevented two terrorist acts planned by Russian intelligence services in Lviv.
Through proactive measures, the lives of Ukrainian soldiers were saved as the invaders attempted to remotely eliminate them using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
To lure the military to the sites of the planned attack, the enemy employed a cunning «date invitation» tactic.
Russian agents created fake female accounts on popular social networks, posing as acquaintances to potential «targets».
Eventually, two defenders received «invitations» to meet at locations where explosives were planted.
Cyber specialists from the SBU uncovered the enemy's scheme, neutralized the IEDs, and protected the Ukrainian defenders who were targeted for elimination.
Recall that this summer in Kyiv, the counterintelligence of the SBU also prevented an assassination attempt on a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine. The attackers had tried to blow up the soldier using explosives hidden in a scooter.
According to case materials, Russian agents remotely activated the IED at the moment the soldier arrived at the staged «date», where a booby-trapped scooter was located.
During the investigation, a 19-year-old Kyiv resident was detained for placing explosives in the vehicle. It was established that the invaders recruited him through thematic Telegram channels seeking «easy money».
Investigative actions are ongoing to hold all those responsible accountable.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU employees in Kyiv and the Kyiv and Lviv regions in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
