Law enforcement agencies have successfully arrested an official from Kyivvodokanal who was soliciting 450 thousand hryvnias in exchange for facilitating a company’s connection to the municipal water supply and sewage system.
The 35-year-old suspect was caught thanks to the efforts of the investigators from the Solomiansky district police and operational officers from the strategic investigations department in Kyiv.
On September 25, police detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, right after he received 225 thousand hryvnias - half of the agreed bribe. The remaining amount was to be paid after the contract for connection was signed.
The Kyivvodokanal official has been charged under Part 3 of Article 368-3 (Bribery of an official of a legal entity of private law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The maximum penalty for this offense is up to three years of imprisonment, along with a ban on holding certain positions for up to two years.
The Solomiansky district prosecutor's office is overseeing the legal process.
