A criminal noticed a keyring fall from his acquaintance's bag, took it, and while the woman was away, committed theft from her apartment.
In April, a resident of the Lisovyi Massiv contacted Kyiv police to report an unknown break-in at her apartment. The Desnyan police department dispatched an investigative team to the scene.
Officers established that the victim had lost her keys, which the criminal later used to enter her home. The police promptly identified and apprehended the suspect – a 38-year-old man, known to have prior convictions for theft, robbery, and fraud. It turned out he had seen the keyring drop from the woman’s bag and, when she was not home, stole a mobile phone, a drill, and a monitor from her apartment.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Desnyan District Prosecutor's Office, informed the suspect of his charges under part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – theft committed repeatedly and combined with breaking and entering during martial law.
The Desnyan District Court of Kyiv found the criminal guilty of the charges and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment. Additionally, based on Article 71 of the Criminal Code, his unserved portion of a previous sentence was added, resulting in a total of five years and three months in prison.
