In the capital, law enforcement has uncovered a fraud scheme involving the sale of three vehicles intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The organizer attempted to sell them for $14,000. The suspect was caught in the act.
Investigators from Kyiv police, along with officers from the Internal Security Department of the National Police, revealed the scheme led by a 47-year-old woman residing in the Kyiv region.
The perpetrator, who represents a charitable foundation, established a system for selling vehicles imported as humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces. She sought potential buyers through online advertisements and a specially created community on social media, where she promoted her products.
Terms of sale and vehicle prices were discussed during personal meetings and correspondence with clients. After receiving the agreed amount, she would process the necessary documents and hand over the vehicle to the new owner.
She was attempting to sell three cars from the humanitarian fleet for a total of $14,000. However, the plan was foiled, and law enforcement caught her immediately after the transaction and receipt of money.
During authorized searches at her residence, four vehicles with foreign registration, cash, mobile phones with correspondence with clients, and other evidence of illegal activity were seized.
The Pechersk Police Department has already announced charges against the 'entrepreneur' under part 2 of article 15 and part 3 of article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal use of humanitarian aid for profit). She faces up to seven years in prison for her actions.
The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv oversees the proceedings.
