A young man who threatened police officers with a weapon in the Kyiv subway will spend 4.5 years behind bars. The incident occurred in January this year. In the evening at the «Khreshchatyk» metro station, a 20-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, displayed aggressive behavior, arguing with passengers and using foul language.
When approached by metro police, he failed to comply and instead pulled out a traumatic pistol, threatening to use it. Officers, with the help of citizens, apprehended the offender, but he resisted and inflicted injuries on a police sergeant.
The arrested individual was identified as a 20-year-old from the Kirovohrad region, previously convicted for illegal vehicle possession but released on parole.
Investigators informed him of the charges related to part 2 of article 345 (threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) and part 4 of article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. During the investigation, the offender remained in custody.
Recently, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv found the young man guilty and sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison.
