Due to improper verification of the capital renovation of the children's sports school «Kozak», conducted by a specialist from a municipal enterprise, the Kyiv budget suffered significant losses.
The crime was uncovered by Kyiv police investigators with operational support from the SBU and under the procedural guidance of the Podil District Prosecutor's Office. The investigation found that at the end of 2024, a contract was signed between the director of the municipal institution «Complex Children's and Youth Sports School «Kozak» and a construction company for the renovation work.
An engineer from one of the capital's municipal enterprises was engaged to oversee the quality of the work performed.
Upon completion of the renovation, the contractor was paid approximately 7.2 million hryvnias from the city budget. However, investigators determined that the actual cost of restoring the premises and the materials used did not match the reporting documents, and prices were deliberately inflated.
The technical oversight executor, who was supposed to monitor compliance with all standards, «failed to notice» discrepancies. As a result, according to forensic conclusions, the damage to the community budget of Kyiv exceeds 740 thousand hryvnias.
Investigators informed the suspect of charges of committing a crime under part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence resulting in serious consequences. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to five years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the former director of the children's sports school «Kozak» was previously suspected of embezzlement through abuse of office during the renovation work.
