A heartbreaking incident occurred in a Kyiv hospital where a 10-year-old girl died during pre-operative preparations, leading to a criminal investigation by the Kyiv police. Reports indicate that the girl had sustained a broken arm about six months prior, requiring surgical intervention, and recently suffered another injury necessitating a follow-up operation.
While in the hospital in the Obolonskyi district, the young patient experienced a sudden decline in health during the removal of her cast. Despite the medical team's efforts to stabilize her condition with various medications, her health deteriorated, and after nearly three hours of resuscitation attempts, she tragically passed away.
An investigative team, juvenile inspectors, and a forensic expert were present at the scene. Several expert evaluations have been ordered to determine the cause of death and the quality of the medical services provided.
The preliminary investigation is being conducted under part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning improper performance of medical duties, which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
