A man who set fire to two military vehicles and a postal office in Kyiv has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The perpetrator was apprehended in December of this year by law enforcement officers in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine. He is a 41-year-old local resident working as a mechanic.

He used fuel from vehicles he serviced, siphoning it off unnoticed by the owners. After coordinating with his handler, he set fire to two military cars and a postal facility.

The authorities arrested him and charged him with offenses. The Holosiivskyi District Court in Kyiv found him guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 113 - sabotage during a state of war.
  • Part 2 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 114-1 - obstruction of lawful activity of the Armed Forces.
  • Part 2 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 194 - intentional destruction of property.

The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office oversaw the proceedings.
