In Kyiv, the counterintelligence of the Security Service has uncovered another agent of the Russian special services. The perpetrator was involved in adjusting missile and drone strikes by Russia against the capital and spying on the movements of Ukrainian troops. It turned out that he was a 24-year-old IT specialist recruited by the enemy. He came to the attention of the fsb while searching for easy earnings on Telegram platforms.

The agent rented apartments in high-rise buildings, receiving addresses from his handler. He installed video cameras in the windows of these apartments, allowing Russian agents remote access. In this way, the enemy monitored potential targets in real time during attacks on Kyiv to adjust subsequent strikes. Additionally, the agent set up similar cameras near railway tracks, hoping to detect the movement of military convoys.

The Security Service timely uncovered the spy, documenting his activities, and arrested him in the rented apartment. A video camera and a phone with evidence of communication with the fsb were found at the scene.

The agent has been charged under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).

He is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation. The operation was conducted by the SBU in cooperation with the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office.
