Counterintelligence officers from the SBU have captured a Russian military intelligence agent who was planning sabotage in the Sumy direction.
According to case materials, the arrested individual was a former nurse from the Sumy region, recruited by the enemy through social media. Her main task was to conduct reconnaissance of border areas, particularly identifying the coordinates of checkpoints and defense positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The information she gathered was intended for preparing a breach in the front lines. Specifically, the enemy sought to find "weak spots" and "blind zones" of the Ukrainian defenders to attack from behind.
It was discovered that the woman had installed a mini-camera on her bicycle to covertly document military objects during her rides. She transmitted the collected data in the form of photos and videos with marked locations on maps to her handler via messenger.
The SBU counterintelligence successfully detected the agent in time and documented every step of her collaboration with the occupiers. The Security Service also undertook comprehensive measures to protect the locations of the Defense Forces in this area. Ultimately, the agent was caught "in the act" while filming a border bridge for the "passage" of Russian sabotage groups.
The SBU investigators have informed her of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The operation was conducted by SBU employees in the Rivne region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecution office.
