Police in Kyiv have apprehended two young men accused of brutally assaulting a local resident following a warning.
The victim commented on their behavior at a sports ground, which provoked the attackers' aggression. They could face up to ten years in prison for their actions.
Passersby alerted the police after spotting a man lying near the sports ground with severe injuries. Investigators and medical teams promptly arrived at the scene.
Authorities discovered that the young men were drinking alcohol in the yard when the victim approached them with a complaint. The conversation escalated into a conflict, during which the attackers assaulted the 34-year-old victim until he lost consciousness.
After the assault, the perpetrators fled, and the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He is currently in intensive care.
Police operatives identified the attackers as two 24-year-old residents of the capital. They were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The suspects have been charged under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily harm, dangerous to life at the time of infliction, committed by a group of persons. The court has ordered detention as a preventive measure. The article's sanction provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
