On July 8, around 7 AM, the Kyiv police received a report of a shooting in the Desnyanskyi district, which resulted in a man's death.

To solve this gruesome crime, investigators from the capital's main department, territorial units, forensic experts, and other services were involved.

Authorities learned that the victim, a local resident born in 1977, was sitting in a minibus when an unknown individual approached him and fired two shots. The man died at the scene from his injuries.

“As a result of a special operation, we located and seized the weapon used in the crime, which the perpetrator had discarded. After committing the act, the suspect used disguises and left for Odesa the same day. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Kyiv and Odesa police, and with the support of the KORD special unit, we apprehended the suspect at a hotel. He turned out to be a 41-year-old foreign national. We are currently considering several theories,” said Andriy Harastyuk, the head of Kyiv's criminal police.

Investigators from the Desnyanskyi police department, under the procedural guidance of the Desnyanskyi district prosecutor's office, have notified the suspect of charges under paragraph 11 part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional murder committed on order. At the request of law enforcement, the suspect will remain in custody. He faces up to fifteen years in prison or life imprisonment for his actions.

The pre-trial investigation continues, with law enforcement establishing all circumstances and identifying other individuals involved in the crime.
