The construction of a water supply system between the Inhulets River and the Southern Reservoir has highlighted corruption schemes. The construction company received about 7.4 billion UAH in state funds, yet a portion was embezzled. Investigators have determined that the losses could reach several billion UAH, and five individuals have already been charged.
Representatives of the road construction company organized a scheme to misappropriate budget funds, involving officials from affiliated enterprises. The government allocated resources for infrastructure recovery after a terrorist attack on the Kakhovka HPP, adding pressure to complete the project.
In July 2024, contracts for the execution of works were signed, but it emerged that prices for construction materials were significantly inflated. For instance, a pipe costing 16,000 UAH per meter was sold for over 24,000 UAH. This led to substantial expenditures from the state budget.
The police conducted searches at the offices and residences of the suspects, seizing documents and equipment. Five individuals have been charged with the misappropriation of budget funds, and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
