The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended a Russian military intelligence agent involved in attacks on the capital region.

Counterintelligence revealed that a 44-year-old man was attempting to gather information about local enterprises.

He came under the radar during an online chat where he expressed pro-Russian sentiments.

After recruitment, he began monitoring locations that could be related to military production.

The agent posed as a casual acquaintance to extract information from friends and conducted reconnaissance on potential targets.

Simultaneously, he tracked the movements of mobile fire groups during air raid alerts.

The enemy intended to use the collected data for attacks on Kyiv, bypassing Ukrainian air defense.

The SBU documented every action of the agent and took measures to protect Ukrainian facilities.

The operation concluded with the arrest of the perpetrator, who was found with phones containing reports on Ukrainian targets.

He has been charged with treason under wartime conditions.

The perpetrator is held in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was overseen by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
