The Ministry of Education of Ukraine has revoked the academic degrees of four researchers due to plagiarism in their dissertations.
This was confirmed by the decision of the Attestation Board held on April 25, as reported by the ministry.
This body makes final decisions regarding the granting or revocation of academic degrees and titles based on the findings of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
The researchers affected include:
Oleh Mishchenko, who was stripped of his PhD in Economics and Management of the National Economy.
The blog "Plagiarism and Falsifications" points out that plagiarism was found in his dissertation "Activating the Innovative and Investment Development of the Food Industry in Ukraine," which had numerous matches with a 2015 monograph by Viktoriya Hubina.
Mykola Kolyadynskyi, who lost his PhD in Technical Sciences specializing in "Environmental Safety."
His dissertation "Management of Environmental Safety of Soils and Groundwater in the Impact Zone of Landfills," defended in 2013, was also found to contain plagiarism.
Andriy Zabolotny, who was stripped of his PhD in Public Administration specializing in "Theory and History of Public Administration."
This concerns his dissertation titled "Legal Regulation of Professional Activities in the Field of Public Service: A Public-Administrative Aspect," defended in 2021.
Roksana Chupryna was deprived of her PhD in Medical Sciences specializing in "Obstetrics and Gynecology."
Her dissertation on the prevention of menopausal disorders in women with benign unspecified tumors of the uterus and ovaries was defended in 2015.
"All decisions of the Attestation Board of the Ministry were made unanimously, indicating understanding and consensus," noted Deputy Minister of Education Denys Kurbatov.
As a reminder, earlier we reported that no scientists in Ukraine had their academic degrees revoked due to plagiarism suspicions throughout 2024.
