At the City Accelerator Demo Day, 16 startups showcased their innovative projects. This event was organized by ISE Corporate Accelerator as part of the City Targeted Program to promote industrial and entrepreneurial development for 2024-2025, as stated by Valentyn Mondryivskyi, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
A key initiative is the establishment of a startup accelerator that will connect startups and municipal enterprises in Kyiv to seek modern technological solutions for urban infrastructure. The main goal of the program is to develop a corporate accelerator framework aimed at addressing the challenges faced by municipal enterprises in the capital.
Kyiv ranks 5th in the StartupBlink ranking, confirming its status as an innovation hub in Eastern Europe. “We are actively implementing digital technologies to enhance the quality of life for residents,” emphasized Mondryivskyi.
Startups have significant potential for collaboration with municipal enterprises, enabling the realization of projects that can enhance city management.
During his speech, Mondryivskyi mentioned his visit to Washington in September 2024.
“Meetings with representatives of the World Bank and other partners allow us to bring the best international practices to Kyiv. Today, we are already implementing projects in energy efficiency and digitalization of services across various sectors,” he noted.
Special attention was given to the development of the Kyiv Digital mobile application.
“Kyiv Digital was born four years ago primarily as a transport service. Due to the full-scale war, its concept has evolved to focus on preserving the lives of citizens and coordinating actions. Today, this application has become a unified digital tool, convenient for residents and a hallmark for the Kyiv authorities,” stated Petro Olenych, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration for digital development.
The City Accelerator program is aimed at collaborating with municipal enterprises, particularly those providing critical city infrastructure, including “Kyivteploenergo,” “Kyivkomunservis,” “Kyiv Metro,” “PLESO,” “SPETZHYTLOFOND,” and others.
During the Demo Day, a startup competition took place on topics such as energy efficiency and conservation, housing and communal services, ecological initiatives, transportation and mobility, digital services, and smart urban infrastructure management.
“Only close cooperation between startups, municipal enterprises, and the city will enable the implementation of innovative projects that will make Kyiv more comfortable and modern for its residents,” concluded Mondryivskyi.
