Starting from October 5, 2025, a significant renovation of Kharkiv Highway in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv has commenced, with a total cost of 1.26 billion hryvnias.  This was announced by the contractor company – the “Avtostrada” group led by Maksym Shkil.

The renovation will cover a stretch of 5.4 km from the Darnytsia Square, where the Sobornosti Avenue, Kadenyuka Avenue, Mirova Avenue, and Prazka Street converge, to Kharkiv Square near the “Boryspilska” metro station (where Bazhana Avenue ends and Boryspil Highway begins).

Initial works have begun on the segment from Kharkiv Square to Trostyanetska Street on the odd side.

During the construction, traffic will be organized in one lane in each direction.

The project includes a complete replacement of the road base, installation of a new multilayer surface, renovation of storm drains, and the creation of new bus stops and raised platforms at tram stops.

Plans also include the establishment of bike lanes along the entire highway, repair and modernization of all underground crossings, and the setting up of temporary car storage areas.

To reduce accidents, dedicated lanes for left turns will be provided.

Tactile paving will be installed along the route, curb heights will be reduced, and the underground crossing near the Institute of Chemistry of High Molecular Compounds of the NAS of Ukraine will be equipped with elevators.

Asphalting in this area is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with the full scope of work anticipated in the first quarter of 2026.

Renovation of the remaining sections of the highway will continue throughout 2026 and most of 2027 – until August, according to the work schedule.

Additionally, it is worth noting that a major repair of the damaged overpass on the state road T-10-19, intersecting with the international route M-06 near Makariv, is ongoing in the Kyiv region.
