For the first time in history, the «Red Hall» at the train station has been transformed into a creative workshop where Lesya Khomenko has been working from July to August.
The artist is immersed in the vibrant flow of passengers, creating her largest canvas measuring 21×12 meters, as reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.
This canvas reflects the architectural rhythm of the station's stairs, transforming it into an «endless» movement that embodies various groups of Ukrainian society.
The work symbolizes progress — a movement made possible by the collective efforts of Ukrainians defending their culture and values.
Her new piece will be showcased at the train station at the end of August as part of a solo exhibition at PinchukArtCentre, opening on August 28, where viewers can explore her artistic journey from 2006 to the present.
Additionally, in her workshop at the station, Lesya will create another piece — a 30-meter canvas in the shape of a trench, which will be featured as an immersive installation at the art center.
The project is being realized in collaboration with Ukrzaliznytsia as part of a long-term initiative to integrate contemporary art into the railway space. Previous artistic projects have also been presented during this collaboration.
Lesya Khomenko is a renowned Ukrainian artist and co-founder of the Revolutionary Experimental Space (R.E.P.). She has been nominated for several prestigious awards and has works in leading museums across Europe.
