On July 16 at 15:00 in Kyiv, the War Museum will host the launch of the new comic magazine "Inker", aimed at showcasing the Ukrainian struggle for freedom through the medium of comics.

Venue: Exhibition space "…beyond the borders of one’s homeland" in the main building of the War Museum.

Participants of the event:

  • CEO of "Inker" Artem Ipatov,
  • journalist and co-author Diana Lanovets,
  • artist Iryna Kostiushyna.

The meeting will be moderated by Roman Kabachiy, a senior researcher at the War Museum.

During the discussion, the representatives of "Inker" will address how they select topics for coverage and the process of preparing upcoming issues. Physical copies of the magazine will also be donated to the War Museum's Fund Collection and library.

Founded in 2022, the magazine has released nine issues, each containing four comic stories (a total of 36 stories):

  • "Mariupol",
  • "Unbreakable. Civilians in War",
  • "Azovstal",
  • "Partisans",
  • "Captives",
  • "Love in War",
  • "Evacuation",
  • "Women in War",
  • "Territorial Defense" and two special print issues: "24/02" and "Through the Eyes of a Journalist" (featuring 4 personal stories each).

Notable stories include those of Vasilisa Stepanenko, co-author of the documentary "20 Days in Mariupol", military photojournalist Yefrem Lukatsky, Kherson journalist Oleg Baturin, who experienced captivity, and Romani activist and historian Yanush Panchenko, who survived the occupation of Kakhovka.
