The Kyiv Metro has initiated a public discussion regarding the proposed changes to the rules for transporting dogs in the metro.
This project was developed based on citizens' requests and a relevant petition, as reported by the Kyiv Metro.
If residents complete the survey in the "Kyiv Digital" app and support the initiative, the new transportation rules for dogs will include:
- small dogs must be in bags with waterproof bottoms;
- large dogs must wear muzzles and be on a short leash;
- passengers with pets will be allowed in the first and last cars during off-peak hours;
- owners must comply with sanitary and safety regulations when transporting animals.
"If the public supports this initiative, the project will be submitted for voting in the Kyiv City Council. Following the approval by the deputies, a six-month testing period for the new rules will be initiated. Afterward, specialists will refine the final provisions," emphasized the animal rights organization UAnimals.
According to the experts from the Kyiv Metro, the testing period is crucial as they will analyze how the new rules impact the safety and comfort of all passengers. If necessary, the rules will be adjusted.
