Contract Square is transforming before our eyes! Residents and volunteers from various countries are uniting to create the world's largest temporary urban space.
This initiative is led by Danish architect Mikael Colville-Andersen, aimed at establishing a comfortable and green environment in the heart of the city for locals and visitors alike. The future space will serve a recreational purpose — a place for both physical and mental relaxation. Green areas with benches, charging stations for mobile phones, chess tables, sports courts, and corners for cultural events and socializing will be created here.
Collaboration with Professional Tools
The project partnered with Bosch in Ukraine, which provided essential tools ranging from electric drills to hand tools for woodworking. Bosch specialists also held a series of workshops where everyone could familiarize themselves with the tools, test new products, and gain hands-on experience. The new line of hand tools introduced earlier this year attracted particular interest. It includes a complete arsenal for professionals and DIY enthusiasts: sturdy saws with additional blades, convenient screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, socket heads, pliers, cutters, bits, and everything needed for precise measurements.
For Bosch, supporting the project at Contract Square is not just a project, but a reflection of the company's main mission: to improve people's lives. This is where the value of the future space lies — it will provide a real therapeutic experience for residents and guests of the city, a place to relax among greenery or spend time actively on specially equipped grounds.
“We live in Kyiv, walk the streets, spend time with loved ones — this is our everyday life. The idea of creating a space that makes these moments even more enjoyable resonated with us. For Bosch, it's not just about tools — it's about change. Here, technology and ideas meet to make people's lives more comfortable,” comments Ivanna Cherevko, Corporate Communications Manager at Bosch Ukraine.
All wooden structures are being assembled by volunteers using professional Bosch tools, making the process convenient and safe. Employees of the company, along with their families, are also participating in the project: helping, sharing experience, and assembling structures under the guidance of the architect.
Building the Future Space Together
Every weekend for a month, Contract Square transforms into a real open-air workshop where everyone is welcome to join. Thanks to collaborative efforts, green islands with trees in special pots and comfortable relaxation zones with original benches have already appeared on the square. Additionally, Contract Square is becoming noticeably brighter with the painted asphalt artwork titled “Flower of Life.”
Construction work will continue until the official opening of the space, scheduled for July 2025.
