Kyiv is set to establish a new branch of the Museum of the History of Kyiv dedicated to avant-garde art. This new museum will occupy a space of 676.1 square meters in a historical building located at 16 Lypka Street.

The project received support from the permanent commission of the Kyiv City Council responsible for property and regulatory policy. The authors of the initiative include Hanna Starostenko, Kateryna Kyrychenko, Olesya Zubrytska, and Vladyslav Andronov.

The official establishment of the Avant-Garde Museum occurred in November 2024, and its permanent exhibition will play a significant role in the development of contemporary museum space in Ukraine.

City council member Hanna Starostenko stated: «It is symbolic that this idea was actively promoted by Diana Popova during her lifetime. Thanks to her efforts, we were able to realize this ambitious project in less than a year and organize three major exhibitions. She fought for the recognition of Ukrainian avant-garde artists like Malevich and Bohomazov in the art history narrative, and we continue her work today».

Another council member, Kateryna Kyrychenko, added: «The city aims not only to preserve its architectural heritage but also to breathe new life into it. The Avant-Garde Museum will be a place where art, memory, and Kyiv's contemporary history intersect».
